Recently, 74 youth who have, or are experiencing houselessness participated in an assessment to share their experiences to increase awareness of the challenges of youth houselessness in Spokane County.
Warrant Fest played a pivotal role in addressing the legal challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness and/or housing instability. This event focused on recalling warrants, providing individuals with crucial legal relief, and creating a more supportive and equitable community.
We are SO excited to announce that we have been selected as one of 20 organizations to be awarded funding through the US Aging Center of Excellence to Align Health and Social Care (COE). The COE is supported by the Administration for Community Living and will support community care hubs in their work to assess and address individuals’ health-related social needs and promote whole-person care.
Recently, our president, Alison Poulsen, joined with several other leaders of the Washington ACHs (Accountable Communities of Health) to share state approaches to addressing health-related social needs and the future of community care coordination.
BHT is offering up to $75,000 for Rural School-Based Healthcare projects and $10,000 mini-grants to support the health-related social needs of rural students. Please submit your proposals for one or both funding opportunities by May 15, 2024!

Smile Spokane is a Local Impact Network (LIN) of organizations working together to transform oral health in the region. Smile Spokane serves as an organizing entity with strategies in place to improve oral health in Spokane.
Telehealth virtual appointments allow students to see a physician on-site at school with their school nurse there to assist in taking measurements and administering medication. These appointments help make accessing care more equitable, especially for parents who struggle finding the time or transportation to take their children to receive care.
To further support our commitment, BHT is releasing funding out of our Community Resiliency Fund in a single Request for Proposal process to address racism and prioritize awarding dollars to organizations led by and serving impacted populations.

Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay. Fluoride replaces minerals lost to the acid attacks that happen when we eat.
